11. Do you perform same sex marriages?

A marriage is defined by Australian law as “ the union of a man and a woman.” However I do perform commitment ceremonies which are a public declaration of your love for each other. There are no legal papers and these unions are not registered.

12. If I have a commitment ceremony can I change my name?

Anyone can change their name at any time as long as it not with an intention to defraud. You can’t change your name by deed poll in Queensland anymore however you may be able to register a change of name on the “change of name register”. Many organizations require proof of identity and if you change your name you will need official evidence of the change.
